What Gives You Hope?

This afternoon I'm recalling a conversation that I had with a teenager on my trip to Northern Ireland last month. We were sitting around a table and I asked this young Irishman, "So, what gives you hope for the future?" I love that question, because it taps into the dreams and the Source Giver of those dreams; he paused, thoughtfully and then said, "Nothing." "You have no hopes or dreams for your future?", I asked. "No... none."

What dreams and hopes do you have for your future?

  1. PK,

Would you believe I was thinking about this today? Not for myself, but for my mother. She is 73 years old and recently widowed. I'm was planning on asking her that question tonight.;D

  3. What gives me hope? The 2009 NFL draft! JUST KIDDING!!!!

I read your post with great sadness. It goes along with what you told us about the spiritual situation in Ireland. Without Christ and His blessed promises, I would have no hope either. Certainly this world and its governments can offer NONE. People who put their hope and trust in money have seen the futility of that. Our children offer us hope...but hope of what? What kind of world are they going to be living in? So without Christ and the hope of His soon return, I would probably be suicidal, homicidal or both.

My GREATEST hope is that all our children will NOT MISS HEAVEN and they will live their lives for Him and teach their children in the way they should go. THAT is the absolute desire of my heart...
