Umm... you best take heed and get away from that bird! Ha! Jeff and I were greatly entertained by your experience... but I don't think I would have stayed that long! Ha!
The kildeer wasn't flashin you. It pretends to be injured to draw threats away from its' nest to protect its' eggs/young. You wanna see a really crazy bird go to where South St./100 T's into 1000. Redwing blackbird there will divebomb at your head!
Ok, I was WAY off on the road numbers! The threatening avian is where 150N meets S1100W. Just down from your place. Have you had the pleasure of encountering it?
Funny you should mention the crazy bird on 150N. I took a quick jog yesterday evening and that bird attacked me. I thought maybe the killdeer put a "hit" out on me. Word spreads fast with these birds you know.
When we lived at the parsonage in Providence we had one of those birds do that for us. It took me a whole minute or so before I relized it was pretending. I said to your dad look at that poor bird is hurt! I then followed it across a whole field before it dawned on me. Why is it's name Killdeer? I never knew that either! Maybe it kills deer?
