This weekend's message is about "gossip". Gossip is when you find yourself talking about a person or a situation and you are not part of the problem or part of the solution. As I was delivering the message this evening the atmosphere seemed kind of heavy. But what would you expect if you are sharing verses like this one?... "But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36,37 and this... "Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.” James 3:5-6
The point about gossip that I want to get across this weekend is this thought... We need to stop talking about people and start talking to people. Rather than talking behind someones back, the appropriate action is to speak face to face with the individual.
It would be an awesome wonder of what God could do in and around us if we'd just learn this point! My prayers go out for you as you deliver this message. I also pray for the hearts that are on the recieving end to be open. =)
