Daily Bible Reading

Sunday at church I encouraged people to get into a routine of reading the Bible and doing devotions every day. Now is a great time to start the new year right and get into the habit of reading your Bible. I told people how I went about my devotions utilizing the internet and that if they needed the website to just email me. I've had several requests so I thought I'd just go ahead and post the site I use here on the blog as well.

Here is the website that I use for my daily Bible reading... http://bible.christianity.com/

This site has a lot of great resources, including devotionals and study resources, but I primarily use it for the Bible in a Year feature. Here is a screen shot...
Once I created a free account, I then set up the reading plan that I wanted and translation of the Bible that I wanted to read.  I made that page my homepage/start page, that way every time I log onto the internet in the morning this is the first thing that I see. It takes me about 15 minutes to read the passage and then I click the "finished reading" tab and the next day pops up and is ready the next time I open up my web browser.

I began using this site last February, so in about a month I will have read through the Bible in one straight shot. My plan is to begin again with a new Bible in a year plan but reading from a different translation.

If I had a handy dandy iPhone or web enabled cell phone I'd be all over the youversion Bible like white on rice. But for easy navigation and added features on the computer bible.christianity.com is my choice.

What do ya'll use for your daily devotions/Bible reading?

  1. Using the Iphone my friend! But I also have the devotion book "Worship the King". It's a great one page a day devotion through the whole year. On the Iphone the year Bible reading is actually the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. I love it.

  2. I'm a little old school myself. I have a print off of my yearly schedule that I have to manually mark off each day.

  3. Hey PK, thanks for the heads up. My Grandma Shockney gave me a card that enabled you to read the Bible in a year decades ago. I attempted it then, but misplaced the card. Now I have signed up on Christianity.com and I look forward to completing it.

    Thanks Again!

  4. Tommy,

Glad to hear that you will be working on reading thru the Bible in a year. I've enjoyed reading it this year and the discipline it has taught me.
