Getting Ready for Relaxation

Tammy, Shelby, and I are gearing up for a special vacation. We are going to be taking off for Walt Disney World. Ever since 2000 I have been taking trips down to Florida to enjoy the sunshine, fun, and creativity found at Walt Disney World. I think I enjoy it so much because it is an escape; I literally forget all about the details, stress, issues, problems, conflict, and pressure of pastoral ministry. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and God has very specifically called me to be a pastor. But there are times in my life I just need to detach for my own sanity.

This will be a special vacation because Tammy is preparing to run in the “Minnie Marathon” for the first time. Tammy has wanted to do this half marathon for women for a while, and this year she finally gets to do it – I’m really excited for her. (However, running 9+ miles is not my idea of a vacation =)

On this trip we will be splitting our stay between 2 different resorts. The first resort we will be staying at is the Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

They have beautiful landscaping at this resort (in 1995 it won an award of excellence for its landscaping; the Port Orleans resorts have over 100,000 flowering trees and bushes).

After we check out of Port Orleans Riverside we will be using some of our Disney Vacation Club points and staying at Boardwalk Villas.

I’m looking forward to staying at Boardwalk since this will be our first time staying there.

If there is any room left in one of the suitcases does anyone else want to go with us? It may be a little tight in the suitcase, Shelby has packed every swimsuit she owns.

    Pastor Kris,
When do you and your wife run? I frequent the roads around Parker and I'm always looking for a running partner to enjoy the effort with. Once school's out I'll have more time and opportunity. Let me know if you and/or Tammy are interested. Have a GREAT vacation! :)
