Jesus comes along and introduces us to a different concept completely. In the culture of the Kingdom, Jesus flips it around, He says, “You really want to be the greatest? You descend to greatness.” What a counter cultural teaching. The challenge then becomes for us, as His disciples, to live this truth out.
"The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted." Matthew 23:11,12
I just heard a podcast from College Wesleyan Church and the title was "King of the Hill". The speaker used the story of Cain and Abel to show how we have the tendency to try to be better by pulling others down--the total opposite of servanthood. I must be being told something here because God doesn't work with coincidences. Thanks for your blog.
