Here are some quotes that have made me laugh. Sometimes it isn't 'what' they say but 'how' seriously they say it that is so funny.
Week 1
Shanay, "I’m looking forwarding to feeding off of their synergy right now."

Hulk Hogan (following the Eliminator) "Thunder and lightning in a wide open field..."
Week 2
Hulk Hogan, "Let's hear it Gladiator maniacs in the house."
Hulk, "You had more moves than a bowl of jello up there."
Jeff (after making it up "the wall") "I knew I had to go fast so I was just thinking back to childhood; when I would get in trouble my mom would chase me with a belt so I was just trying to get up the tree like I did when I was a kid; and so that's all I could do."
Jeff (after the "earthquake" event) "He was a little bit slippery but it was just like hog wrestling at the fair (I) took care of him."
Week 3...
Hulk "You are the man of the hour, you are the man with the power, you are the man too sweet to be sour."

ReplyDeleteI think all 40 million people are watching it for the same reasons you mentioned. It's an 80's memory, and we're amused at how cheesy it is (because they take it so seriously... like the dude 14 years in training! Or the guy last night who was injured and, while laying on the ground, told Titan he was he inspiration).
I miss the hamster balls though. And wasn't there an event called "The Krag" or something like that... ?

*Assault, the Joust, Breakthrough and Conquer, Powerball, The Wall, and The Eliminator were the only events to be played on all seven seasons of the original show. However, The Wall didn't make its first appearance until the second half of the first season.

lol oh wow, i need to watch this show sometime. i've never heard of it before. the one about the belt when he was a kid cracked me up. was he serious when he said that?
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the new ones yet but on ESPN Classic they show the old ones and yeah they are good for a laugh especially when they interview the Gladiator and their one quick sentence answer. Has Hogan said "Whatcha gonna do when the Gladiatormania runs wild on you!" yet.
