Sunday Night Wrap Up

If you will recall today's message was the one that I was struggling with several weeks ago. I blogged about it HERE. After some great input from my blogging friend Mike Messerli, advice from many of you, and listening to a couple of other ministers I was able to preach a message that I was excited to share.

For those interested here is what I preached about:

Specific text: Phil. 1:27-29 followed by John 17:20-21; 23

Topic: Church Unity

The Point: A common mission creates unity. (The mission is seeing others make Christ their Savior)

Some of my favorite thoughts:

** "The world will believe in Christ when the church is united"
** "The goal is for others to come to know Jesus and when that is the obsession of our lives then we will pursue unity."
** "The love and community of those in the church speaks volumes to the world around us."
** "People come to Christ as a result of us loving each other and treating each other like family." ** "People are saved from hell because of how we act."
** "We may not be outwardly persecuted for our faith but we do face trials that tend to rock our faith. My faith is built when I see you stand when trials come, if you can do it, then I can too! The oneness of the body doing life together is needed." {Thanks Mike!}
** "If you would love one another there is a manifestation of God that can be seen. When someone who doesn’t know God personally comes into contact with believers who are gathered they ought to be able to see the love amongst you and then see the love of God."
** "We want to give the world an accurate picture of the love of Jesus Christ."

  1. Kris,

I look forward to hearing the message. Great thoughts, can't wait to see what you did with the passage.

There is a quote I have created that helps me with focus, and I share it often. If your series is continuing in this theme it may help- "People are the currency of eternity."

Thanks for the mention as well, and I too hope there was no real damage to the church. Have a good week.

  2. Mike,

I will have to talk with our media ministry team it looks like we are a little behind on posting our sermon audio on the web.

I really appreciated your help on this message.
