In my last post I gave you a glimpse into a journal entry during a difficult time in my life. I thought I'd post just one more entry, this one from the next day, June 15, 2006.
"This morning my mind is going in a million different directions. It is difficult to focus. Hopefully as I continue to write this journal entry I will find that my thoughts become more focused. I wonder how leaders of large corporations or the President of the United States is able to stay focused on all that they have to do. Surely, their minds are swimming with details and upcoming responsibilities.
I think there is really no way to move a corporation, or even a government for that matter, without good leaders working beside you. The success of any movement or business is determined by the passion and ability of those within the movement or corporation.
The first Christians birthed at Pentecost had no clue about how to lead a church or even grow a church, what they had was passion and clarity. The Spirit provided the fuel and the passion that propelled them into the world. The commission of Christ gave them the clarity to move in a direction.
Without passion and clarity at Farmland Friends Church we will not move forward. We will stagnate and then die.
God I pray for passionate movers and shakers within our congregation; bring those with a white hot passion for you. Please don't let the momentum end with our emotions, let it be translated into a clear focus on the mission to bring people into your Kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ. May the same Spirit that fueled the early believers at Pentecost energize me to accomplish every task before me and may the mind of Christ give me clarity to only pursue those tasks that are necessary for the betterment of your Kingdom. Amen."
I loved your prayer. I think the Spirit has given you a boldness to do what God has given you to do. I still remember the comment you said a long time ago; I paraphrase,
ReplyDelete"If you don't want to be on board get up and leave now, I need your space"!
Continue to follow what God wants you to do; never what man wants you to do.
Christians in America need to have a fire lit under them. So many of us just move along as if the life we are used to will always be there. Not so, satan has other plans.
Keep up the hard work, my love!
