Tomorrow at church we are going to do something a little bit different. The sermon is titled 'Tis the Season... for a Silent Night; rather than trying to do a song and dance to get everyone's attention, we will bring it down a notch.
I wrestled for months about what to preach about on the Sunday before Christmas. Obviously we will talk about the birth of Christ, but there is always so much pressure about doing it in such a way as to get everyone's attention. The difficult thing is getting people's attention in our culture; there is so much NOISE: texting, emailing, phone calls, commercials, billboards, songs, television shows, movies, conversations, etc...
This year, I quit, I refuse to try out-scream the world. I think I will let God speak for Himself this year. Hope to see you tomorrow morning at FFC.
