It is almost 12:30 and I'm still at Panera using their WiFi and electricity - ya gotta love technology.
Well, I have been doing some praying and thinking, and I feel that I have some of the major themes that we will be covering in the new year. Here is the short list of some of the themes that I feel the Lord would have me address this year: discipleship, emotional health, stewardship, marriage/family & singles, temptation, interpersonal relationships, the obligatory holiday messages, etc...
Most of these topics would be made into short series. I also want to work on some deeper theological concepts; but obviously I'd be avoiding the big complicated words and attempt to bring some complex thoughts down to the level where we can all understand it.
I think I'll start wrapping things up here at Panera and then head over to Starbucks and dive into some podcasts and a little bit of writing, dreaming, etc.
I recently had a friend say, "My church is dying, and your church is thriving. Why?" We have to give God props on that one. He's the reason behind it all. He draws people to Himself, and He equips individuals to minister. But my friend was looking for something more practical. "What can we DO?"
ReplyDeleteI mentioned the clear purpose and direction first of all, but another reason why people gather at Farmland Friends Church on Sunday mornings is because the topics are relevant. Thanks for all the hard work you put into to preparing and delivering God's Word.
