Thought I'd Let You Know

Fasting is a time to deny yourself and focus on God. I thought I’d let you in on a little secret; you know what you think about when you fast? FOOD! I’m thinking about: cheese burgers, potato chips, ice cream, peanut butter cups, …

Those that know that I’m fasting are asking, “So how long is your fast?” I tell them, “I don’t know.” I don’t have a specific day that I plan on stopping. I think I’ll stop the fast when I don’t feel like I want to stop fasting. Right now everything in me is screaming to have some peanut butter or chocolate; when I’m resolved to the fact that I don’t have to have what I want, then I have attained a level of discipline that fasting gives; when that happens then I’ll stop the fast.

  1. Ok, well, I don't think I can read your blog any more because dieting is a lot like fasting... all you think about is FOOD!!! You have my mouth watering! Oh dear. =( I will pray for you as you walk through this that God's hand and blessing will be upon you!

  3. Pardon my stupidity, but I have heard of people fasting and never understood or have been explained the just of it. Where should I look to see the true meaning of fasting? When is it good to do it? Why do it? ETC... Like I said I've heard of it but never have looked into it.

  4. He should speak with Larry Swearingen. Larry is very knowledgeable about fasting. I have done a water only fast for a week and the Daniel fast in the last six months ( I know it does look like it LoL). I think it a symbol to God that you are willing to give up something and suffer just a little in your life. Nothing like the suffering He done for us. God has rewarded me after both fast. You also want to name what your are fasting for.
