Last night I was up until 2:30 A.M. putting pen to paper and dreaming about the future of the church. I’m happy to say that the late night was not in vain. I now have a very good handle on the direction we are to take with our new building as well as utilizing the current space we have. Everyone that I’ve shared my vision with has responded very favorably. This is a huge relief to me and I can’t wait to share my thoughts and vision with the whole congregation.I’ve passed my ‘chicken scratches’ off to the experts who will be helping us with making the dream a reality and, Lord willing, within a few weeks we can start officially unveiling some of the plans and show what it looks like on paper.
In the meantime, we are still in the process of interviewing for the positions of Children’s Pastor and Youth Pastor. The next candidates that we will be interviewing are a couple of my good friends from California. We will be flying in James and Tonya Pinkerton to interview over Memorial Day weekend. James & Tonya went to Barclay College with Tammy and me; it will be great seeing them in person again and I can’t wait to hang out with these two cool cats =)
Flying the couple in. I have a problem spending that kind of money to interview the couple. Of course, I could be wrong and we are not paying for all of the airfare but then it needs to be presented the way.
ReplyDeleteI give my 10% and if this is the way that God said to spend it so be it. But I think that sometimes we mistakes God's way for society's way.
From the minutes and financial reports that are available we appear to be in the red. We need to be mindful of how we use God's money and that we are aligning with his way.
My Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Or something like that. "If" we paid for the airfare, He will more than take care of it. We are suppose to trust our Pastor to make the right decisions. If you don't, I'm sorry for you. Lighten up and trust God to take care of the rest!
ReplyDeleteministering to the children and to the teens is TOP priority. Meeting their needs should be top priority for the church. I'm sure that God would definitely place priority on any money spent to find the best of the best to reach his precious little ones and his precious teens. I'm real glad you are flying this couple in. And I'm praying that you treat them like royalty. They deserve it. People who are willing to pour out their lives to reach "the least of these" are few and far between. I'm real glad if my tithe money goes for anything that will win souls and I'm real glad our pastor cares about the children and the teens. I'm so thankful for pastor Kris. He's truly a man of God and not a man who listens to what men say. He listens to what God is saying.
