Do Something

As a pastor I just love it when I find that people actually follow through on a sermon or a challenge to do something. It has happened a couple of times this week and it just fires me up, blesses my socks off, and keeps me going.

The first was in our college age growth group at our house last Tuesday evening. A young lady shared that she had applied one of the steps I suggested at the end of last weekend's message regarding dealing with jealousy. She shared with us that she had a heart to heart talk with God, and following that prayer/conversation she felt much better. Yeah God! And yeah for this young woman who actually did the sermon rather than just listen to the sermon. When she told the college group about how she applied the sermon, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I was so proud of her and so happy that I was used by God to make a difference.

The second happened just this evening when someone read the last blog post about "sobering facts" and actually did something by making a donation to Blood: Water Mission. Once again, I am so proud of this gentleman and so glad that I get to see God at work in the lives of others.

Sometimes we just have to do something. Not just talk about it, not just say, "Oh that's too bad." or, "Oh I need to apply that truth to my life... someday". Don't you ever just get that feeling that now is the time... enough talk, enough intellectualizing, enough selfishness, enough apathy, enough injustice? You think "somebody has to step up!" and then you realize you're the somebody and it's time to do something... anything!

What can be done?
