Since I began blogging in November of 2006 I've counted 24 bloggers from FFC who are currently blogging; some have even jumped into Twitter. I think that is so awesome. Here's what I love about blogging and reading other people's blogs.
I love the fact that we have created an "online community". We are living in a new era; an era where media and technology provide opportunities for people to connect, sometimes at a deeper level than in person. The other day I did some minor counseling while texting back and forth with an individual. Often twitters and blogs have alerted me to pray for folks who were facing challenges. I have gotten to know folks in our church better through their blogs and twitters than had I just continued to bump into them in the hallways at church. The same technology has allowed many others a chance to get to know the personality of their pastor better than had they just listened to me preach on a Sunday morning.
The only thing better, in my opinion, than experiencing "online community" is our Growth Groups, where we can get to know others face to face over a meal, Bible study, and personal joys and sorrows. Outside of Growth Groups I really think that my time is well spent typing blogs and twittering with my fellow tweets.
It's a new era of ministry and I embrace it with open arms. Thanks for being a part of this community. Feel free anytime to jump into the conversation by commenting, making your own blog, twittering, joining facebook, etc... ...

Why I Love Blogging

I agree PK. Blogging in many ways helps me to get to know other folks from FFC that I don't get to talk to or see in person.
ReplyDeleteIt also helps me in many ways. Sometimes I will blog when something is troubling me, or if I'm just being my usual crazy self.
I hope more and more people from FFC join our little "online community".
OK, so now I am trying my hand at Twittering...We shall see. I would be good to go if I could figure out how to post pics directly from my camera. Kodak doesn't seem to want to cooperate. I will have to ask the "younguns", or maybe Milah (just kidding, Milah...)
ReplyDeleteMake it 25 bloggers. Looks like Audra joined yesterday!
i'm just proud to have a pastor with a technorati rating in the top 750K (or do we have an updated number??)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading what's happening in others lives, getting to know them better, giving some insight into my own warped mind, and cyber-stalking you. :P lol
ReplyDelete24 people blogging from FFC, how long b/f that many are twittering? Our phones would be going off non stop! Bring it on PK!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask PK. Is the ST. Arbucks you frequent one of the 600 stores they are going to close? Let us pray its not, or there might be a problem..
ReplyDeleteB,
ReplyDeleteTechnorati update: authority = 17
ranking = 387,846.
I'm moving in the right direction now.
Tommy,
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope that the 2 "St. Arbucks" that I frequent in Muncie don't close - I prayed too hard just to get them to open one up a couple of years ago. :o
