Inciting Change

This afternoon I went to the hospital to visit someone, and on the way I stopped off at Starbucks (Tall peppermint mocha latte - yummy). On the Starbucks cups they have quotes called "The Way I See It"; today I had "The Way I See It #183". This is a quote from John Sweeney author or "Innovation at the Speed of Laughter" I loved this quote: "Improvisers don't look at change as an obstacle; we look at it as fuel. We know that the next great idea lies just on the other side of the change. We are constantly asking ourselves, "What can I do to incite change?""

As many of you know I love change. I identify with the comment that "we look at it (change) as fuel." Early in my ministry I grew so frustrated at all of the stick in the mud, "let's keep everything the same" fuddy duddies that I made a statement with my personal email address; that is the night I came up with "changeisgood4u".

I find that often times in the ministry I have to put the brakes on the amount of change that I'd like to introduce into the environment around me so as to not cause the congregation to go into a state of shock. At times I feel like I've lost a piece of myself as I play it safe and hold back on implementing new ideas. There are days I miss the old Kris. Perhaps to get a piece of myself back and to live out the vision that God has for my life I need to live out the question, "What can I do to incite change?"
