What Would You Say?

It seems that everywhere I turn the past few weeks I am surrounded by people who have had a relative or friend die. I just learned of two more individuals in our church who had people very close to them die. One was a brother and the other a friend; just 23 years old and he died of cancer.

With so much death going on around me my thoughts turn to heaven. I was thinking about what the moment must be like when we leave this earth and find ourselves in the presence of God. At the moment we find ourselves standing before God; what are our senses receiving? What will we see, what do we hear, is there an aroma? What do you say?

I try to imagine myself in the presence of God and think about what I might say to Him, and to be honest with you I don't know that I'd be able to say anything. Which is a very biblical response. Check this out - Ecc. 5:1-2, "Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few."

If any words happened to seep out of my jaw dropped mouth I imagine I might be able to mutter, "Holy", "Glory", "Awesome", "Wow", "Whoa", "Thank You". What would you say?

  1. I don't think the first words will be "What up G" I just can't see that happening. I think it will be hard to speak at first for just being in awe standing in front of God the father and all of His glory. The words that keep coming up to me is "Thank you". Just imagine the coolest place you have ever been in your life and how many times you would have to magnify that just to equal all the splendor that awaits in heaven. I think I will be speechless for a while.
