This afternoon I had my semi-annual dentist appointment. I don’t know if you do this, but before I went to the dentist I brushed my teeth and I flossed. Do you do that? Now that’s not such a big deal except this was the 2nd time I had brushed my teeth today and I don’t floss regularly. (I know, shame on me.)As I am brushing and flossing my teeth to get them clean so that I can go to the dentist to get them cleaned once again I was thinking to myself, ‘how many people do this with God?’ How often do people think that they need to clean up their act before they return to God? I had a person tell me recently that they need to straighten out their life before they come to church. God didn’t come for the cleaned up and the righteous. Sometimes we think that it is our job to do the refining and the cleaning up when that is not our job at all. Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” Leave the cleaning and polishing to the Great Physician.
