The question that needs to be asked at every juncture of life is this, "What is the wise thing to do. "What is the wise thing to do with my money; what is the wise thing to do with my time; what is the wise thing to do in regard to my morality.
Realistically, a moral failure really shouldn't be a big surprise to the person who has sinned. The decisions that we've made that were wrong morally were preceded by a series of smaller wrong decisions. The way that you blew it big time was the result of passing by all of the red flags and saying “well there’s nothing wrong with this, there’s nothing illegal about this, others are doing it, is there a verse against it?" and then you blew it. Every moral failure is preceded by a number of unwise decisions.
"He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be delivered." Proverbs 28:26
