All of the pieces of our series came together this morning. Knowing how all of the series was going to unfold at the very start of the series made for a very interesting dynamic as we saw each painting that Abby was putting together. It also made the very first Sunday very poignant as I smeared the original painting with black paint representing our sin - knowing full well that our sin would ultimately represent the nail mark in Jesus' wrist.
Abby did a fantastic job making this series just so memorable. I loved the collaboration between art and the spoken word.
I had Tammy take some photos this morning - here are a couple of them -
What an awesome series. I wasn't able to see the paintings put toghether from my stool but knowing what they looked like together from earlier this week I knew it was cool. So I just watched the reaction of the people in the congregation esp. when the last painting was put in place you could see the look on the faces when people "got" what the paintings were. Then when people in the back started standing and giving God GLORY then how it just trickled down to the front was just amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnother part of the service I liked was the video montage with the song, I hope that more of these are in store. I hear certain songs and think man it would be cool if......
Ready now for the next series.
This service was one great big "God moment." I brought a young guest with me, and during the ride to church he discussed how his life makes no sense, enduring so much pain, loss, and abuse. He said he was no longer sure if God exsisted. So much of the service paralleled our conversation; his questions, then God's answers which you presented so well. I had chills down my spine knowing that this one specific person was meant to be there on that one specific day. Leaving the church, he simply stated "This was awsome. I understand now."
ReplyDeleteGood Job!!! God bless you!
