I had the wonderful privilege/challenge of speaking on tithing today at church. I would call it a privilege, because I know every time I share the truth of God's Word someone is going to take me up on the challenge to order their lives according to God's Word. I call it a challenge because there is always significant "push back" from folks (even if it's not verbalized; you can sense it) when I start talking about money. Money is so personal, and it is such an important spiritual topic. There are few other things that are such a good indicator of our relationship with Christ than where we are in relation to our attitude regarding money.
Matthew 6:21, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Jesus.
Soul search: what kind of grip does your money/stuff have on you?
I most certainly wish that all could experience the blessing of tithing. I can testify first hand that God does bless and He DOES follow through on His word! He opens the flood gates. The flood gates aren't always what we think they are going to be... but He provides in MANY ways. When it looks like we don't know where the next meal, the next tank of gas or the next need is going to be met...God SHOWS UP! I know that our lives can personally say... TEST HIM AND SEE!!! Bless you for what you spoke today... those that are reluctant should take you up on the challenge... they'll find themselves blessed! I think it is awesome how you use this as a teaching for Shelby right off. What a powerful tool you are giving her for life!
ReplyDeleteI like hearing these kinds of messages, keeps me grounded. I remember a few years ago during another message relative to this Tammy and I took up this challenge and we could not believe the difference. We were able to get out of the grip of credit card debt, able to take that step to start buying our house, and just recently paid off our car.
ReplyDeleteGod is FAITHFUL and we are living proof that when you follow what He says He provides.
As funny as this sounds keep stepping on those toes, we as christians cannot afford to rest and sometimes we need those wake-up calls.
