Planning or Pursuing?

If you are anything like me you’d like to know what the future holds for you. I’d like to have all the plans in place and to know what is around the corner. However, faith involves embracing uncertainty.

We can make plans until we are blue in the face and we could miss what is more important, seeking God. Plans are great and we need to be strategic about our lives, our careers, and our churches but we can’t let the plans get in the way of the pursuit.

I like what Mark Batterson wrote in his book, “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day”, “We’ll never have all the answers. And some people never come to terms with this truth. The feel like something is wrong with them because they can’t wrap their minds around God. But maybe faith has less to do with gaining knowledge and more to do with causing wonder.”

There are some things in this life that we won’t be able to plan or predict, but what we have at our disposal is the ability to seek hard after God. This week my plan is to loosen the reins on control and planning every detail and pursue the One who holds my future in His hands.

  1. There is no greater joy in learning to let go. Since Joey has become sick, I have had to let go of control of life because I have realized, there is no controlling it... Now, I understand peace... peace comes when you let go and trust that God will bring about tomorrow in His own loving! however, I do still have a long way to go as for letting go... so, as I continue to walk, I lift you up as well!
