This weekend in church we are going to be concluding our series called "Baggage". This week we are diving into the topic of guilt. Guilt is debilitating in our lives and it is something that all of us must wrestle with.
The truth is none of us are faultless. We all have sins, we've all made mistakes. So we all have regrets. As a result we carry guilt around. We may deny the guilt. We may blame other people for our guilt. We may excuse our guilt. But we still feel the effects of it. If you're really going to move through life without baggage, you've got to learn how to let go of guilt.
The process of dropping the baggage of guilt involves: identifying our sin, accepting responsibility for our faults, asking for the Lord's forgiveness, and confessing our faults to another person.
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:8,9
"Admit your faults, to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed." James 5:16
Life is too short to live it burdened by the baggage of guilt. God has given us the remedy for the baggage - how about you let go of it.
