This morning after our 10:30 worship service let out a young lady asked if she could talk to me for a moment. We stepped to a quit corner of the hallway and she proceeded to tell me that she had been out of church for a long time now and had decided to give church another shot. Before she came to church this morning she told God that if He really wanted her to come back to church and that this was the church for her she wanted to hear her favorite song, "Our God is an Awesome God".
Just before service started, our guest lead singer, Nick, asked me if it would be OK if the media team would play a little video that he had put together to kick off the first song set; I reviewed the video and said, "sure". Well, you guessed it, the background music to that video was "Our God is an Awesome God." Neither Nick, myself, nor the media team had any idea that God was about to use a seemingly insignificant decision to bless a life. After hearing that song toward the beginning of service God had the attention of this young lady and she realizes how important she is to Him.
Some people will say that this is a coincidence; I choose to believe that God listens to heart felt, sincere prayers and longs to reveal His love to us in big ways and in small ways.
As skeptical as I can be at times, I can't push these sorts of things off as coincidences. I know that God is personal, and He cares about the woman who gave FFC a shot this morning. But I also know that even if God chose not to allow the song to be played this morning, He still cares and He's still working according to His plan... sometimes it lines up with ours, and sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, I hope we'll see her back next week. :o) God is good!
