Let me preface this blog post by saying that I'm not looking for compliments or encouragement; I just want to share what I'm thinking. Tonight was one of those nights that when I got done preaching that I felt a little discouraged. I really felt like I did a poor job of preaching; that always drives me nuts because I want to give God my very best. I will be praying hard that tomorrow goes better. Fortunately, God's presence can always make up for my frailties and He can touch hearts in spite of me.
The goal is changed lives.
ReplyDeleteI know you know this, and I know you want to give God your very best, but He can work a miracle in a life whether it's the best sermon ever or not.
Thanks so much for what you do. God is using you to change the face of a community. Keep up the good work :o)
Your sermon content was good, I personally think the video was way too graphic. For those of us who have lost a loved one thru an alcohol related accident a video like that accomplishes nothing but more grief and sadness. There are others within our church community who've lost a family member thru a tragic auto accident and I pray that the video doesn't affect them the way it did me and my sisters. In fact I hope you rethink that one and don't play it for the next 2 services.
ReplyDeleteRita,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that the video brought back painful memories. My desire is that this video would cause anyone who would drink and drive to consider the horrific devestation that their decision leaves on those around them. I also thought the video gave the viewer a very good reminder of the weight (baggage) that guilt leaves behind.
Again, I'm sorry for the pain that this video brought to you and your sisters.
PK, your motive for showing the video is understandable and if it helps even just one person from doing something stupid like drinking and driving then Praise God, mission accomplished! I still would have prefered to had a heads up notice on what was going to be shown and would have removed myself promptly (with my 2 sisters) from the service at that point and joined you all after the video which is what I did on Sunday 2nd service with sister # 3. Having spoke my mind, I want you and anyone else who may read this to know that I believe you're one of the best pastors Farmland Friends has ever had. And I pray for many more years of your ministry to our community and we're behind you supporting you and believing in you.
ReplyDeleteRita, I understand what your saying about the heads up notice.
ReplyDeleteI've always appreciated your kindness to me and your encouraging words. Thank you.
Blessings - PK
