Happy Columbus Day!!! I wait all year for this very special holiday and it has finally arrived. I don't know how you celebrate it in your home, but in our home I dress up as Christopher Columbus, fill the bathtub full of water – jump in and “sail” to the “new country” where I am greeted by my 2 "Indian princesses". We then exchange gifts: I give them a necklace made of dandelion weeds in exchange for 30 pounds of gold. The festivities are concluded with the 3 of us singing a rousing chorus of “Oh Columbus Day” around a big spread of turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish, and a Dairy Queen ice cream cake.
Happy Columbus Day! If you will excuse me, I’ve got to get changed into my outfit.
Man, we should have celebrated at your place... I had a big spread of cold pizza for our lovely columbus day dinner!
ReplyDeleteI assume you'll have some pictures of you in your outfit...
ReplyDeletedo you really do that?
ReplyDeleteMindy - maybe next year. It's too bad this wonderful holiday only comes once a year ;-)
ReplyDeleteBryan - sorry no pictures. I can give you a link where you could pick up your very own Columbus costume though; here you go... http://www.costumecraze.com/image.php?imagefile=http://img.costumecraze.com/images/vendors/forum/60389-large.jpg
Von - Wow; you really asked that question... You doubt the validity of our celebration? This meaningful tradition has been passed down through our family for generations.
